ABOUT

Artist Statement

 

The things I make are about relationships, consumer roles, and market identity. I write and produce performance art and games that can be molded, emotionalized, emphasized, and replicated. I am a meta-consumer, rather than a performance artist.
 
My work takes the form of big-box store detritus, store receipts, studio portraiture, and retail advertising. I choose the medium for properties that can express cultural codes and distinctly transform concept.
 
Instinctually my work is a conversation with two people, my mother and father. A documentation of my life experience as a consumer which has roots in my relationship to my mother, and a play-by-play of the game that is target demographic which has roots in my relationship to my father.
